Week 2 Assignment 3 - Portfolio Script

Assignment 3 Instructions:

Submit your Thesis Script or Project as a zipped file to the assignment window.

Part of this assignment is to proof your script through Act II or page 60 for typos and garmmar errors. I am sending everyone a copy of the CWMFA Style Guide. Use this in helping you spot errors and correcting them.  

Reflection Paper: Also submit a 200-400 word paper reflecting on your progress as a writer in the program so far.

·      Write a half-page summary of your story or project.

·      Tell me two areas or aspects of your Thesis Script or Project you want to further develop.

·      What two questions do you have about your project that you want ask your Professor in Portfolio 2.

·      Due Sunday 11:59 EST

Your Thesis Project will vary depending on which format you have chosen. Here are the requirements for various formats:

Thesis Script or Project:  Specialization Requirements (months 6 through 12)

Find your area of specialization below.  Note the requirements for your specialization.  These specialization projects have been carefully designed to reflect industry standards, and require equivalent time and effort from each student to complete.

1.     Feature Film – Live-action or Animated

·    90 – 120 page script, written in Final Draft

2.     Television – Hour Drama

·    (1) 50 – 60 page Pilot script, written in Final Draft

·    Short synopses for 12 First Season Episodes

3.     Television – ½ Hour Multi-Camera Comedy (e.g. Big Bang Theory or Friends)

·    (1) 44 – 60 page Pilot script, written in Final Draft

·    (1) 44 – 60 page Episode 2 script, written in Final Draft

·    Short synopses for 12 First Season Episodes

4.     Television – ½ Hour Single Camera Comedy (e.g. The Office or Arrested Development)

·    25 – 30 page Pilot script, written in Final Draft

·    25 – 30 page Episode 2 script, written in Final Draft

·    Short synopses for 13 First Season Episodes

5.     Television – Animation

·    25 – 30 page Pilot script, written in Final Draft

·    25 – 30 page Episode 2 script, written in Final Draft

·    Loglines and short synopses for 13 First Season Episodes

6.     Web Series

·    Scripts for Full First Season (12 – 20 episodes, 3 – 10 pages each episode), written in Final Draft

·    Show Bible, written in MS Word, to include:

1)      Series logline and synopsis

2)      Episode loglines

3)      Character & Location descriptions

4)      Distribution Model

5)      Internet Marketing Campaign

7.     Games

·    Concise Game Development Document (GDD), written in MS Word, to include:

1)      Game Logline and Treatment (3-5 pages)

2)      Complete Story Outline, including Narrative Branches (5-10 pages)

3)      Character, Item, and Location Descriptions (10 pages)

4)      Sample Level Description (8-10 pages)

·    Cinematic Cut Scenes, written in Final Draft (minimum of 4 complete, separate scenes, to total 20 pages)

·    Branching Dialog, written in MS Word or Excel (minimum of 3 complete, separate scenes, to total 6000 words)

8.     Comic Book

·    Scripts for 4 book series (22 – 44 pages each book; total for series 88-176 pages), written in Final Draft

·    6 – 10 pages of storyboards or sketch layout

9.     Graphic Novel

·    90 – 120 page Graphic Novel, written in Final Draft

·    6 – 10 pages of storyboards or sketch layout
